Florence M. Follis, 92 of rural Huntington passed away at 12:50 p.m. on Monday, February 23, 2009 at the Bluffton Regional Medical Center. Florence was a 1935 graduate of Markle High School. She had worked at People’s General Store in Markle and had farmed with her husband for several years. She also raised 3 generations of her family. She was the oldest of eight children. She was a member of the Plum Tree United Church of Christ. She grew up in the Fort Wayne area.
Florence was born on April 21, 1916, a daughter of Lillian (Wisely) Nickelson.
She was united in marriage to Ora E. Follis on February 15, 1947 in Markle. He preceded her in death on January 21, 1989.
Survivors include a daughter: Mrs. James (Cynthia) Doelling of Huntington; a son: Thomas E. Follis of Decatur; two sisters, a brother, three grandchildren: Jeffrey D. (Molly) Follis, Thomas “Rick” (Debbie) Follis, Thomas M. Follis and four great grandchildren.
Three sisters and one brother preceded her in death.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2009 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel, 415 N. Lee Street, Markle, Indiana.
Services will be held on Friday, February 27, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel with Dr. Jeane A. Spoor officiating.
Interment will be at the Lancaster Cemetery in Lancaster, Indiana.
